RED LODGE SONGWRITER FESTIVAL 2016

Where Songwriters Meet

Thank you to all that made the Inaugural Red Lodge Songwriter Festival a Huge Success.

Eight months ago we had an idea to bring a Songwriter Festival to Red Lodge. Our vision was and still is to create an annual event that brings tourists and songwriters of all abilities including hit makers to Red Lodge each summer to share their talent and skills with the local community. Through the interaction of songwriters and their music we will create an inspirational culture that promotes creativity in songwriting, performing and collaboration among the artists.

From the very beginning we knew that this first event and fulfilling this vision would never happen without the support of the town of Red Lodge, its businesses and its people.

We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to all that supported and made the Inaugural Red Lodge Songwriter Festival a huge success. The town of Red Lodge, both TBID and The Merchant and Lodging Association. The Red Lodge Chamber and its staff. All the host facilities, the Red Lodge Pizza Company, the Pollard Pub, The Roman Theater, Sam’s Tap Room, and The Snag. All the local businesses that supported us through their sponsorships which I know wasn’t easy after a tough winter. Red Lodge Reservations, Jim Beam Whiskey & Patron Tequila, Pilot Peak Music, Berkshire Hathaway, Boyd’s Garage, The Glass Rabbit, Ranch Road Recording, Moo Country, Red Lodge KOA, Haydan Salon, Music Ranch Radio, Alpine Lodge, Velum Skin & Laser Center, Bob Smith Motors, Rock Creek Lumber, Flash’s Photography, First Interstate Bank, Econoprint, Heavy Horse Bar, and Covering Broadway.

The kindness of the people of Red Lodge who may have thought their small acts of giving were not a big deal but were a big deal. Our fellow committee members; Trace Ritter and Jimmy Kuala who gave countless hours to this effort. Levi Louma for lending us his sound equipment and expertise, Brenna Hyvonen and a group of great Red Lodge High School Students led by Holly Kreatz and Ross White who handled our ticket sales. Justin Satterfield who managed our open mic nights, Matt Grieshop who loaned us fence posts and equipment, Danielle Moore and Pete Wisnewski who loaned their trailer for storing equipment, Jim and Holly Brien for arranging a Yellowstone Bus trip up the Beartooths for the Songwriters, and John Mueller for driving. Wells Reitz for helping with lighting and sound, the Lutheran Church for allowing us the use of their land to park cars, and Rob Weimer for parking cars.

All of you that attended the shows, bought tickets and gave us your smiles, hugs, and affirmations that we are on the right track. It was great to see how many people came to multiple shows.

And finally the songwriters, those that came from Nashville and shared their hits, James Dean Hicks, Anthony Smith, Tony Lane, and Kostas. The incredible songwriters from Montana and Wyoming that graced us with their talent and packed their shows, Sean Devine, Kaylin Beasley, Garrett Randolph, Chad Okrusch, Al Cooper, Tom Catmull, Dennis Erickson, and Cory Johnson.

This collective effort made this event possible.

This is just the beginning. We intend to fulfill this vision. We will create a non-profit organization in the coming months that will help us grow this Festival into an annual event that all of the people in Red Lodge and the surrounding area will enjoy and benefit from. Stay tuned for updates on our website, www.redlodgesongwriterfest.com or our Facebook page.
